SIX THINGS THAT CAN INVALIDATE/CANCELED THE FAST OF RAMADAN OR SUNNAH

SIX THINGS THAT CAN INVALIDATE/CANCELED THE FAST OF RAMADAN OR SUNNAH

The month of Ramadan come. That means, every Muslim is obliged to fast for one full month to carry out the commands of Allah SWT. The command to carry out fasting has been written in the Qur'an, Al-Baqarah verse 183, which reads as follows.

However, when fasting, you have to be careful. Do not let you do six things that can invalidate the fast of Ramadan or Sunnah.

1. Eat and drink intentionally

However, when fasting, you have to be careful. Do not let you do six  things that can invalidate/canceled  the fast of Ramadan or Sunnah.

When fasting, we are obliged to keep ourselves from lust and not to eat and drink from imsak until the time of breaking the fast. However, if you eat and drink intentionally, then the fast you are doing is invalidated. You cannot continue fasting and owe a fast that you can replace on another day.

However, if you forget to eat and drink by mistake, your fast is not invalidated. You can immediately resume fasting again.

2. Having sex or having sex during the day

The next thing that can invalidate the fast is having intercourse or having sexual relations during the day while fasting. It is permissible to have sexual relations in the month of Ramadan as long as it is done after breaking the fast or at night.

3. Vomiting on purpose

Doing things that trigger vomiting or intentionally expelling food from the stomach through the mouth can break the fast. However, if you vomit unintentionally, your fast is not invalidated.

4. SMOKING

5. Menstruation or postpartum

For women, if during the day the menstrual bleeding suddenly comes out or gives birth, then the fast that is being carried out will be invalidated. During menstruation and puerperium, women are not allowed to fast. We are allowed to fast again after the period of menstruation and childbirth is over. To replace the void fasting, we can pay for it by fasting on another day.

6. DOING cum on purpose for men

For a man who deliberately releases semen or ejaculates, then his fast is invalidated. He must replace the broken fast by fasting on another day.
